Disease Applications
Truesdale offers an extensive Lawn Care Program (Agronomics). It consists of five different "rounds" applied throughout the year.
Round #1 is applied in late March/early April - We spread a granular application of complete slow release fertilizer and pre-emergence crabgrass control.
Round #2 is applied in April - Again we spread a granular application of complete slow release fertilizer and pre-emergence crabgrass control and an application of broadleaf weed control, where needed to address dandelions, chickweed, and clover.
Round #3 is applied in Early/Mid summer and is a double application -It consists of a complete slow release fertilizer to help keep your lawn healthy, and to prepare it for the upcoming stresses of summer. Also, a granular application is applied for grub control and surface feeding insect control which controls grubs, chich bugs and the larval stage of beetles from damaging your lawn's root system during the summer through early Fall, when insects are most active.
Round #4 is applied in September - during the early fall season we apply a granular application of complete fertlizer to help keep your lawn thick and healthy and to help it recover from any stress it sustained during the summer. Broadleaf weed control is also applied to control young fall weeds when they are most susceptible. This will reduce the amount of weeds in the spring.
Round #5 is applied in October/November - A granular application of complete fertilizer at a high nitrogen rate is applied to promote root growth througout the winter months and it also encourages early spring "green-up". Broadleaf weeds may be addressed as a supplemental application if the weather permits.
Also in July/August, a dry granular lime containing calcium and magnesium is applied in large quantities to your lawn to raise the soil pH. Liming helps release phosphorus in the soil which is an essential nutrient for plant growth.
Core Aeration and Seeding are highly recommended services that we provide. This is done in the fal. Core Aeration is a process where plugs of soil are extracted from your lawn and deposited on the lawn. This helps to reduce soil compaction, allowing water and nutrients to reach the root zone. The roots of the grass will spread more readily which will result in a thicker healthier lawn.
Overseeding can be done at the same time to implement new grass varieties that are more resistant to insect and disease problems.
