Frequently Asked Questions
Question - When should I plant perennials and when should I cut
them back?
Answer -Perennials can be planted any time of year up to mid fall.
They must be kept well watered the first season. You should cut
back perennials, in late fall or when they die back naturally (turn
yellow and wilt)
Question - I love roses, how can I have a rose garden when I hear
they are so difficult to take care of?
Answer - Modern hybrid roses are much less susceptible to diseases.
Plant them where they will get 5 hours or more of full sun. Prune
back the dead blooms. Most garden centers carry a product which
will take care of all fertilization, fungicide, and insect problems.
Question - Why don't my hydrangeas flower?
Answer -All hydrangeas love plenty of sun,6 hours or more. Be sure
you know what variety you have, and when they should be prunned. Most
problems with lack of flowering are from these two mistakes.
Question - When should I trim my azealas and rhodys?
Answer -They should be trimmed right after they flower.
Question - When should I seed my lawn?
Answer - Your lawn should be seeded when the temperature is above
50 degrees at night, in the spring or fall. The ground temperature
must be warm for germination to occur.
